Steve Williams - Principal
Steve has worked in human resource-related fields for the past 12 years, since graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Economics. After selling payroll services for a Michigan-based payroll firm, Steve moved on to a call center software and consulting firm where he provided customer service centers with employee management tools and resources. It was at this time that Steve saw the need for human resource outsourcing and transitioned to a national Professional Employment Organization, serving as the Director of Customer Service. During the 3 years that that Steve managed the client service and operations team, his staff provided full HR management services to a base of 400 clients that employed over 10,000 people collectively.
Steve's experience includes all aspects of the hiring and employment process, with a specific history of success finding employees that match the culture and mission of his clients. With significant experience in selecting, implementing and administering group benefit plans in an ever-changing labor market, Steve maintains focus on achieving the operational and financial goals of the company. Steve also oversees the creation and delivery of employment-related policies and procedures designed to minimize client liability and while it never gets easier, Steve has protected numerous businesses during terminations and/or Reductions In Force.
Steve is the immediate Past President of the Livingston Area Human Resource Association and serves on the LAHRA board in an advisory role. As of January 1, 2011, Steve has the role of State Conference Liaison on the MISHRM State Council. Steve successfully passed the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification process in 2009 and earns an average of over 30 continuing education credits annually. Outside of work, Steve is an active member of the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and coaches a Special Olympics soccer team every fall. Steve lives in Brighton with his wife Lesley and their Great Dane, Capone.
Tim Williams - Principal
Tim is an attorney who specializes in business consulting and litigation and has been a member of the bar association since 1973. He is a graduate of Wayne State University's Law School and continues his education through a variety of law-related seminars. Prior to being the managing partner in a private law firm, Tim was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for R.L. Polk & Co. and Owens-Illinois. During his time with these large employers, Tim learned the importance of sound employment policies and practices, including a focus on employee policy development, appropriate compensation packages, and general workforce management. Tim has expertise in employee separations and defending employee wrongful discharge and discrimination claims.
Tim's entire focus is on protecting the financial and personal interests of businesses and business owners. Tim provides EctoHR with the wisdom that comes with more than 30 years in successful businesses as well as its legal support, including contract interpretation, financial management, and business direction.
Tim is on the board of directors for the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club and is active in numerous non-profit activities. In his spare time, Tim and his wife, Barb, travel to Colorado and Florida to visit their children and grand children.
Christy Conn - Client Service Manager
Christy has worked in HR for 8 years, with the majority of her time in the retail and customer service sectors. She has experience managing the HR functions of multiple locations with large groups of staff in client-facing positions. Her experience includes recruiting, training, payroll processing, time and attendance monitoring and employee relations. With a limitless enthusiasm for learning and personal development, Christy constantly stays on top of law changes and compliance requirements. Additional areas of expertise for Christy include COBRA, FMLA, ADEA, and nearly every other HR-related acronym our clients encounter.
When it comes to building a customer service team, Christy has unparalleled success in recruiting superstar administrative/customer service/Jack of all Trade-types that are the backbone of any sales and service organization. With skills honed during the seasonal hiring spree that comes with the retail industry, Christy's ability to efficiently find needles in a haystack has made for some happy clients over the years!
Christy has led large teams through culture changes when mergers and acquisitions occur and communicates effectively in front of large groups, regardless of the sensitivity of the topic at hand. Christy has a passion for exceptional customer service and enjoys helping clients find what best meets their needs and strives to exceed their expectations. In 2003, Christy received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Human Resources from Western Michigan University and the Lee Honors College.
Christy is active in the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, in addition to being a Big Brothers Big Sisters Lunch Buddy Mentor and serving on the Livingston Area Human Resource Association Board. As a volunteer, Christy also enjoys supporting downtown Howell and the Livingston County United Way. Christy and her husband Eric welcomed Boston Conn, a beautiful boy, in 2009.
